How did The Camp get started?

The Camp began as Camp Marimac Charity Bash, a free charity fan event for Walking Dead fans founded by Oscar Rodriguez III. The very first event was held over Memorial Day weekend, May 25-26, 2019, at Marimac Lakes in Senoia, Georgia, with general admission free to attendees in exchange for non-perishable food donations. It quickly grew from a single spring gathering into the annual convention now known as The Camp.
